The Sunshine State never looked better . . .
than it does in St. Petersburg.

Downtown St. Petersburg skylineCentrally located on the west coast of the Florida peninsula, St. Petersburg has so many things going for it that living here has become the first and only choice of over a quarter-million people.

Population changes have always led to growth in our real estate and construction industries. Now, the profiles of younger, more affluent and better-educated new residents have dictated an upscale trend in products and housing. There are new jobs for this new generation of high-tech workers, and active redevelopment of existing properties for new business relocating to Pinellas County. Indeed it is population growth that has reconfigured even the boundaries used for statistical studies here.

St. Petersburg is a decisive part of a larger area known throughout the world as Tampa Bay. Demographically, our metropolitan statistical area (MSA) includes seven separate counties for a total population of 3.3 million, and these regions now blend together to form the west central portion of Florida. The identifying phrase 'Tampa Bay' literally comes from the name of a large body of water that once divided and now unites the two major components of the MSA - the city of Tampa in Hillsborough County, representing a county-wide population of over 900-thousand and the city of St. Petersburg in Pinellas, comprising another nearly 900-thousand countywide.

Downtown St. PeteOf these two dynamic cities, St. Petersburg enjoys the closest proximity to the famous Florida beaches - a string of barrier islands fully developed with resorts, hotels, motels, condominiums and single-family homes. Even before there were adequate bridges and causes to facilitate easy travel between, to and from the main peninsula, people chose St. Petersburg as their vacation destination for the year-round sunshine, sand and warm gentle waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Throughout our history those natural elements have been the key ingredients for one of our major industries - tourism.

Another contributing factor of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County's continuing success story is offering a quality of life that is second to none. As in the decades of our past, the ingredients that attract our 4.5 million visitors each year are the same factors tugging at newcomers to put down roots.

St. Pete SkylineWonderful weather and miles of sandy beaches, a relatively low cost of living, agreeable taxes and progressive employment opportunities draw people to our area from around the nation and the world. Add to these amenities an impressive public and private school system, a variety of quality colleges and universities, top-notch hospitals and outstanding recreational facilities, and it is easy to see why we are so attractive.
